3rd Annual Rural Interdisciplinary Case Experience (RICE) Bowl
The Rural Interdisciplinary Case Experience (RICE) Bowl is an annual health care case competition comprised of graduate students from 12 academic disciplines (business, dentistry, health informatics and information management, health sciences, law, medicine, nursing, nutrition, pharmacy, physician assistant, public health, and social work) working together to address complex rural health issues. The competition provides an experiential learning opportunity for students to work in interdisciplinary teams to effectively address a realistic case scenario. A selected panel of faculty representing each discipline will develop the case scenario and judge each team’s strategic responses before a live audience.
The goal of the RICE Bowl is to encourage students to think comprehensively and outside their own disciplines. As an outcome, students are better equipped to work in interdisciplinary teams to provide the best quality of care. Academic institutions scheduled to participate in this year’s competition include Belhaven University, Jackson State University, Mississippi College, Mississippi State University, The University of Mississippi, and The University of Mississippi Medical Center.
