About this Event

Merced College is excited to host the 3rd Annual Active Learning Conference. This year's keynote trainer is Dr. Elizbeth Barkley, author and professor from Foothill-de Anza College. Dr. Barkley's keynote training will be "Terms of Engagement: Understanding and Promoting Engaged Learning in Today’s College Classroom." In this workshop, Dr. Barkley will offer a dynamic, 5-component model for understanding what 'student engagement' means and then use the framework to share strategies for promoting engagement in today’s college classroom. Attendees will leave with a repertoire of practical strategies for teaching in a manner that fosters sustained attention and elicits students’ best work in today’s challenging teaching and learning context.

More information on Dr. Barkley, the conference program, afternoon seminars, and past conferences can be found at: https://www.mccd.edu/faculty-staff/alc/
