About this event

Are you excited for holidays that commemorate freedom without a side dish of slavery? Well, then you’ll love this Juneteenth Jubilee we’re cooking up for you. Bring your own aluminum foil, make a plate, grab a drink, and start a new independence day tradition - in June. Juneteenth is the annual celebration of the Emancipation of enslaved Africans in the United States. June 19th,1865 marks the day that enslaved African people in Galveston, Texas received word that they had been legally freed – a full two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation.

AMINAH IMANI

Aminah Imani is a stand-up comedian, host, and actor who lives in New York city. Aminah’s notable performance at her alma mater, Howard University's Homecoming Comedy Show paved the way for career highlights including; Performing at the world's famous Apollo Theatre, Caroline on Broadway's March Madness Comedy competition, the 208 Comedy Festival, the DC Comedy Festival, television appearances on Viceland and online content with Buzzfeed and Scary mommy. Aminah is the host and producer of the Wine Before Nine podcast and is one of the hosts of Comedy at the Knitting Factory, a weekly comedy show in New York.

Chinisha is a certified Prince super-fam, nerd/geek-girl, and cheerful nihilist with a penchant for witty, sometimes self-deprecating humor. Brooklyn-based DJ Monday Blue is the founder and resident DJ of Doyennes of Disc - a radio show and collective of all-women DJs. Monday Blue was the 2018 Pulitzer Prizes deejay.
