Description

Join us for our 3rd Annual Indigenist Research Symposium, a day of learning on the methods of Indigenous-based research.

We are pleased to announce that our keynote speaker will be Laurier alumni, Dr. Allan Downey now a professor at McGill University.

Dr. Allan Downey is Dakelh, a member of the Nak'azdli First Nation, and an Assistant Professor at Department of History and Classical Studies at McGill University where he is also the Chair of the Indigenous Studies Program. Dr. Downey's most recent research has focused on the history of lacrosse, and sport more generally, in Indigenous communities as a lens to view Indigenous identity formation and nationhood. Dr. Allan Downey is also a proud alumni of Wilfrid Laurier University.

Our additional speakers include:

Trever Stace - PhD Candidate in History
Dr. Timothy Leduc - Professor, PhD in Environmental Studies
