Event description
San Diego will celebrate Mexipino History when Filipino History Month overlaps with Hispanic Heritage Month in the first 2 weeks of October.

About this Event

Filipino History Month overlaps with Hispanic Heritage Month in the first 2 weeks of October. During this time the Asian Pacific Islander Initiative will convene San Diegans throughout the County to celebrate our history and continue the legacy of United Farm Workers founders Cesar Chavez and Larry Itliong.

The theme, "Continuing the Legacy of UFW leaders", calls for the celebration of local community leaders Anamaria Labao Cabato, Executive Director of the PASACAT Philippine Performing Arts Center and Louis "Louie" Natividad long time community activist who worked alongside Cesar Chavez and championed a number initiatives in San Diego including the Latina Latino & Indigenous People's Unity Coalition.

Participants can enjoy live entertainment, authentic Filipino and Latino cuisine and the recently installed "Welcome to the Mix" exhibit in the San Diego History Center at Balboa Park.
