Gold Coast Eagle Distributing/Budweiser, Applebees, Home Depot, and Sarasota County Veterans Commission will be the sponsors of the 3rd Annual Female Veteran Retreat, slated for September 29th - October 2 at Day Spring Retreat House in Parrish, Florida. This event is endorsed and run by the Sarasota County Veterans Commission’s Women Veteran’s Committee. Again, the retreat coordinators will Ms. Rebecca Ludwick, Ms. Georgie Alfano, and Ms. Patty Maybray (all Army veterans). Topics will include how to achieve a balance in one’s life, stress relief techniques, MST, achieving healthy relationships, yoga, combatting anger, team building activities, journaling, making a scrapbook, and many activities for the women to bond with each other.
What is the purpose of a retreat? A retreat allows the participants to exam all aspects of their personal life and to make positive changes to promote their own individual wellbeing. Meditation and yoga are often used as exercises that help to relieve stress, along with group discussions, and team building activities. During this retreat the Women Warriors will undergo self-introspection, but they will not have to do it alone. They will have their fellow female veterans as their own personal support team as well as Dr. Jason Quintal of Lakewood Ranch and his team of counselors.
In order to take advantage of this opportunity, female veterans are encouraged to get their retreat applications on line at: www.femaleveteransunite.com. Since this is a FREE event honoring our women warriors, space is very limited and all applications must be received by COB, July 31, 2016. This retreat is being funded by donations from veteran organizations, local businesses, and patriotic private citizens.
