Description

It's almost time to harvest!

The wheat we planted in May is ripening in the warm Sonoma sun and will be ready to harvest on September 30, 2017. Please join us for our 3rd annual Community Harvest at Preston Farm and Winery in Healdsburg.

You and your friends and family will have a chance to harvest, thresh, winnow and mill our field of Sonora wheat. We will harvest by hand using a sickle, which might be a first for most of us. During the harvest, there will be plenty of coffee, fruit and scones, made with wheat from our last harvest, to nourish us while we work.

When we finish, we will move from farm to table to enjoy a delicious lunch featuring wines from Preston Farm and Winery, along with Honoré sourdough bread. You will even be able to pre-order your supply of flour for your upcoming baking needs.

From children to grandparents, everyone is welcome and needed for the harvest. Lunch is included. We will begin at 9:30 am sharp, and finish about 2:30 pm. You will need sunscreen, a hat, gloves and plenty of water.

Special thanks to our host farm, Preston farm and Winery for the donation of land for this project. Without them this wouldn't be possible. And not only are they donating the land, they warmly welcome you to enjoy complimentary wine tasting after lunch in the Preston tasting room. All wine sales on harvest day will receive a 10% discount.

And lastly, a special shout-out to Good Earth Market for underwiritng our morning snacks - this means that everything served will be 100% organic, in season, and local. Thank you Good Earth!
