Description

The 3rd Annual Autism Matters Conference in Mobile, Alabama is scheduled for Friday, May 4th, 2018. This conference is co-sponsored by the Autism Society of Alabama and the University of South Alabama Regional Autism Network.

2018 Speakers Include-

In-Home, Family-Centered Services for very young children with Autism Spectrum Disorder-Angela Barber, Ph.D., Department of Communicative Disorders at The University of Alabama.

PhD, Florida State University, 2008 MS, Missouri State University, 2000 BS, Missouri State University, 1998 Research Interests include; Early autism identification and intervention in rural areas of Alabama, Comparison and construct validity among repetitive behavior and language measurement tools in young children with ASD, Research fidelity of early autism interventions, Cultural variations of first words


Applied Behavior Analysis and our Community- Joshua Levine, Ph.D., BCBA, LBA, Mobile Bay ABA Center.

Dr. Levine is from South Florida and has been helping individuals, families, and communities affected by autism since 2000. As a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, Dr. Levine has recently been focusing on developing outcome-based programs in Hawaii. He is passionate about creating meaningful changes for individuals with autism, their families, and their communities. Dr. Levine is thrilled to be bringing his expertise to Mobile Bay ABA Autism Center and south Alabama.

Education Law and Autism: "Planning for Transitions, from Early Intervention to Adulthood"- Max and Utopia Cassady, Cassady & Cassady PC.

Max Cassady is a former high school teacher and an attorney board certified by the National Board of Trial Advocacy. He is certified in Special Education Law by the William and Mary School of Law. He attended the University of Alabama School of Law where he was a member of the Alabama Law Review. Utopia Cassady is an attorney holding a Masters in Social Work from Tulane with expertise in Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security Disability and Special Needs Trusts. ​ She attended Jones School of Law where she was a member of the Thomas Goode Jones Law Review.

The cost is $75.00 for Professionals and Service Providers and $50.00 for Parents or Caregivers. A boxed lunch is included in the cost of registration. A limited number of scholarships will be available. For information, please email angel@autism-alabama.org.

CEU's and Certificate of Attendance will be provided. Attendees will submit their CE applications directly to AUM (we will have the applications at the conference) along with a $15 fee. AUM will mail the ceriticate directly to participants once the fee is received. We are applying for Continuning Education Contact Hours in: Nursing, Social Work and General (all other Professional groups such as Educators, BCBA's, etc.).
