Our high school powerlifting team has grown from an already very successful 16 athletes last year during its inaugural season to 40+ kids this year. With SEVERAL of these strong young athletes already hitting state qualifying totals there will be some travel expenses not to mention outfitting 40+ athletes with warm-ups and compression gear (needed to compete).
As some of you may know "3R Barbell Powerlifting" is a club sport. This means there are zero funds available from the sports boosters. With that being said, Three Rivers High School has generously offered up their gymnasium to allow us to host a dodgeball tournament fundraiser.
A dodgeball team consists of 6 - 10 players, 6 starters and up to 4 alternates. Each team must have at least two males and two females. There will be three age groups: 8-13 years, 14-19 years, and 20 years and up. Players may sign up to play on teams above their age group, but are not allowed to participate on teams below their appropriate age group.
A match consists of three games. Each game will last a maximum of 3 minutes. The game is over when all of
one team’s players are eliminated, or if time elapses. The team with the most players left wins. If, after time has expired, there is a tie, then there will be a 1 minute sudden-death period between the remaining players where the first team to have a player eliminated loses. If there is still a tie then it is double sudden death overtime in which there will be a “duel” between the two team captains. Each team will play at least two three-game matches. Matches will be played in a round robin fashion. Brackets are double elimination.
Participants may play on more than one team with the cost being $10 per athlete per team; however, players must remain on the same team for the entire three-game match in the event of a scheduling conflict.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place teams as well as most creative uniforms.
