Description

3D printing has become the modern way to create, prototype, and prepare your parts before moving them onto mass manufacturing processes. From a 3D computer model, real objects are fabricated in a number of methods.

In this two hour class, you will learn how to import, prepare and print your three-dimensional parts using the Creality CR-10S 3D printer.

None

You will learn

  • The theory of Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing
  • The various parts of the CR-10S printer
  • How to safely set up and check the operation of the CR-10S printer
  • How to set up Cura 3.0/3.1 for use with the 3D printer ( at ATX Hackerspace and on your own equipment )
  • The correct 3D mesh files ( .OBJ, .STL ) for printing, and what resolution you need
  • How to download files from Thingiverse for printing
  • How to use Tinkercad for free online to make simple shapes accurately
  • When to use special features to print such as rafts, brims, skirts, support material
  • How much infill to use, when, and why
  • What materials you can use to print on the CR-10S, and which must be avoided

You will need to bring

A pad of paper to take notes
Your laptop ( Windows, Linux, or Mac )
