Description

The Supplyframe DesignLab is pleased to present 3D Printing on Fabric with David Shorey of Shorey Designs on Tuesday, October 23 from 9:00am to 12:00pm. This event is part of Innovate Pasadena's Connect Week.

About the Workshop
This workshop will cover how to embed objects into fabric and metal through 3D printing techniques. This is not a beginner workshop; some level of knowledge/understanding of 3D printing techniques is required. There will be a fun takeaway for attendees!

About David Shorey

David Shorey is a 3D designer who works with a variety of mediums. His background is in post-production for both television and movies. About eight years ago David started in CAD and has now worked on various professional projects that are tech-oriented. In his quest to design products he also learned how to run various machining tools such as CNC mills, 3D printers, laser cutters, water jet cutters, and small plastic injection molding machines. David Shorey is also experienced with hardware programming and has designed and milled his own circuit boards. Some projects he has worked on include an interactive art installation for Google and games for Two Bit Circus. He has participated in two residencies at Supplyframe Designlab. His first project was building a box folding robot which is completed and he is currently working on a second project for a TEDx Pasadena event. David is currently developing a 3D printed fashion line with no sewing and no glue and plans to use things he’s learned from that project to create haptic communication systems. He has gained notoriety for embedding material such as fabrics, and metal mesh into 3D printed designs using CAD techniques. An example of this is his 3D printed dragon scales which look and feel like scales and are affixed onto fabric so that it moves like clothing. David Shorey is dedicated to furthering technology, making cool creations, and teaching others so that they can go out and create the projects they dream of.
