Event description
This beginner eight week class will go in depth on using Fusion 360 to create 3D Models for 3D printing.

About this Event

This eight week class will go in depth on using Fusion 360 to create 3D Models for 3D printing. Students will leave the course with the confidence to tackle their own projects. We will be taking a hands on approach to learn by doing. This class is for beginners, no experience necessary.

Topics covered include:

• Creating 2D sketches with dimensions and constraints

• Using 3D tools like extrude and evolve

• Using 2D/3D patterns to speed up design process

• Creating assemblies of multiple parts

• Create technical drawings from your designs

• Modifying models throughout the design process

• Optimizing components for 3D printing

Classes will meet from 6:30-8:00 on Wednesdays starting on Sept 11th.

Student will be expected to complete weekly assignments outside of class, the instructor will be available for support. All students will need a laptop with the Hobby or Student version of Fusion 360 installed when they arrive for their first class.

Please bring your laptop!

Download and install the following software that we'll be using in the class:

- Fusion 360 https://www.autodesk.com/products/fusion-360/free-trial

- Cura https://ultimaker.com/software/ultimaker-cura

All other materials are included!

INSTRUCTOR: Andrew Woodbridge

Andrew Woodbridge is a Computer Science and Engineering teacher with the Olympia School district for the past year. Before coming to the PNW he taught for 15 years in the New York City public schools. He has taught 3D Modeling and Printing, Robotics, and programming in a variety of languages. Andrew also worked with Brooklyn Aerodrome to build their education Curriculum and a flying llama. His background in theatre lighting and set design has driven his work with Arduino micro controllers to make interactive props.
