3D Modeling for Art Proposals

June 30 - July 8
Saturdays & Sundays | 2:30 - 7:30 pm
4 intensive 5-hour class sessions

$250 class fee + $25 text book

ABOUT THIS CLASS

SketchUp is a powerful 3D modelling software that is perfect for developing proposals for interactive sculptures, installations, and public art. This course is designed for artists and anyone else who would like to learn SketchUp to help create project proposals. 3D modeled visualizations have become the norm in recent years for all kinds of large scale art installation proposals.

In this intensive 2-weekend course, you will learn the basics of creating 3D visualizations of art projects in their environment.

Since this is a beginner course, you will need only basic computer skills and no previous 3D modeling experience. If you have some 3D modeling experience (in SketchUp or other programs) you will be able to leverage that knowledge to make your visualizations more complex.

During the first half of the course, you will learn the fundamentals of how to think in SketchUp through guided, step-by-step exercises. During the second half of the course, you will receive one-on-one assistance to complete your proposals.

By the end of the class, you will have created a 3D model of an artwork in an installation environment and a simple walk through video. You will also receive resources to continue improving your 3D modeling skills.
