The California Community Colleges' Success Network (3csn) invites faculty, counselors, researchers, and administrators to a day-long workshop on implementing accelerated models of developmental English and math.
Katie Hern and Myra Snell, authors of the article "Exponential Attrition and the Promise of Acceleration in Developmental English and Math," will facilitate the day-long workshop on implementing accelerated models of developmental English and math.
The day will include presentations and interactive activities on all phases of implementation, including making a compelling case to colleagues, navigating curriculum approval and student recruitment, creating an evaluation plan, and designing lessons. It is intended as a follow-up for people who attended our LINKS 2 events in Fall 2010, as well as an introduction for people new to accelerated models. Both believers and skeptics are encouraged to attend.
Katie Hern teaches accelerated developmental English at Chabot College and is the coordinator of 3CSN's statewide Acceleration Initiative.
Myra Snell developed and teaches in StatPath, a developmental Statistics course at Los Medanos College that provides students with any placement score a one-semester path to college Statistics.
This workshop will be held at Citrus College in the Center for Innovation, Community Room (159). Continental breakfast and lunch are included. Registration begins at 8:30 am, parking information TBA.
