Event description
Come to the 38th Southeast Florida Scottish Festival & Highland Games for a day of Scottish music, food, drink, athletics, clans, & more!

About this event

The 38th Annual Southeast Florida Scottish Festival & Highland Games presented by the Scottish American Society of South Florida is an annual educational event, including a wide variety of Scottish cultural activities. The 2022 Festival will feature music by Albannach, Seven Nations, Blue Skye Pipes & Drums, and the World & North American Championship winning City of Dunedin Pipe & Drum Band.

The Festival will be held from 9am - 7 pm on March 5, 2022 at Plantation Heritage Park, 1100 S. Fig Tree Lane (W. 63rd Ave), Plantation, FL, centrally located for residents of Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. The Friday Night Ceilidh/Concert takes place on March 4th from 8-10 pm at the Broward County PBA Hall, 2901 SW 26th Terr, Ft. Lauderdale [just off State Rd 84].

The Festival provides an exciting exhibition of Scottish culture with Pipe Band and Heavy Athletics competition, Scottish Country Dancing, Highland Dancing, Scottish rock and folk singing, living history encampments and craft demonstrations, sheep dog trials, military reenactments, and Clan (family) & Society heritage displays. An area of Children's activities immerses them in Scottish culture through dress up, coloring, child-appropriate Scottish athletics and a passport game that guides them around the heritage displays.

New for 2022: The Florida State Junior Scottish Athletics Championship for ages 14-17, ballista demonstrations, Gaelic singing and language, and more!

Our vendor area features Scottish/Celtic artisan merchandise, such as pottery, jewelry, fabric arts, and leatherwork, including works by local and other Florida-based artisans. Traditional Scottish foods, including haggis, Scotch Pie, Scotch eggs, fish & chips, shortbread, clootie dumpling, and more are on offer, as well as foods from American and other cultural traditions. Soda, water, wine and beer, including Scottish ales, are also for sale.

Participation at the Festival is by people of all ages, ethnicities and sexes and is not restricted to those of Scottish heritage. Come be Scottish for a day - and bring a friend! Everyone looks good in a kilt!

Organizer Scottish American Society of South Florida

Organizer of 38th Annual Southeast Florida Scottish Festival & Highland Games

The Scottish American Society of South Florida, Inc. [SASSF] is a non-profit organization dedicated to the furtherance of Scottish culture through Scottish dance, music and art.   Run entirely by a team of volunteers, our signature event is the Southeast Florida Scottish Festival and Games held on the 1st Saturday in March at Plantation Heritage Park.   A portion of the funds raised by the Festival and other SASSF events are used to award scholarships for instruction in Scottish music, language, Highland Dancing, as well as academic pursuits.

Thank you for you interest and support of the Scottish Festival.  It's through the devotion and generosity of volunteer community members that enable us to continue to provide this unique taste of Scottish culture, history, and heritage.   If you'd like more information about becoming a member of SASSF or volunteering for future events, stop by the Membership Tent at the Festival or visit our website.
