About this event

Our hugely successful literary lunch series is back and this time we are thrilled to be joined by author Anne Glenconner.

Lady Glenconner, born Lady Anne Coke, is the eldest daughter of the 5th Earl of Leicester and grew up in their ancestral estate at Holkham Hall in Norfolk. Lady Glenconner was maid of Honour at the Queen's Coronation. She marryied Lord Glenconner in 1956. In 1958 the married couple turned the Caribbean island, Mustique, into a paradise for the rich and famous. They granted a plot of land to Princess Margaret who built her favourite home there. Lady Glenconner was then appointed as Lady in Waiting to Princess Margaret in 1971 and kept this role until Princess Margaret death in 2002, accompanying her on many state occasions and foreign tours.

Lady Glenconner is author of Lady in Waiting, an extraordinary memoir of her time as a member of the royal circle. Murder in Mustique, a murder mystery book drawing on Lady Glenconner's wealth of knowledge about the island, that her late husband once owned. Her most recent book, A Haunting of Holkham, where Lady Glenconner once lived, is a thrilling new mystery set during WW11 in Holkham amd follows an eleven-year-old Lady Anne Coke determined to get to the bottom of sinister goings-on at the stately home.

Guests will receive a two-course lunch with prosecco on arrival and wine with the meal. Anne will then take part in a discussion with Jackie McGlone following lunch. During the event there will also be an opportunity to purchase books for signing by Anne after the event.

Tickets are available for £45 per person for Royal Scots Club members and their guests or £50 for non-members.
