Description

Missouri’s annual Child Advocacy Day is an opportunity for parents, child care professionals, health care providers, and community members to speak up and ask lawmakers to make the health, safety, and education of Missouri’s children a top priority for the state. Activities at Child Advocacy Day include:

  • Meetings with legislators

  • Attend workshops on current legislative and budget issues affecting children and families

  • Rally at the Capitol with other advocates from around the

    statey
  • Visit exhibits showcasing services for children and families

  • Recognition of this year’s Child Advocate Award winner(s)

Please join the MO Alliance for Children, Youth, and Families for the 36th Annual Child Advocacy Day in Jefferson City on April 3rd, 2018.

MISSOURI’S CHILDREN:

  • 278,000 live in families with incomes less than the Federal Poverty Level (Missouri Kids Count)

  • 297,000 children under the age of 6 need

  • 289,000 live in homes that experience food insecurity (Missouri Kids Count)

  • 69,000 children lack health insurance (Kaiser Family Foundation)

  • 96,900 children were reported to be abused or neglected (DSS 2015 Annual Report)

  • 5,615 students dropped out of school in 2017. This is enough students to fill 225 classrooms. (MO DESE Comprehensive Data System)
