34th Ancient Kemetic Studies Conference
In the spirit of our Ancestors, our Pan-African global family, and the yet unborn, ASCAC extends a warm invitation for you to join us for our 34th Ancient Kemetic (Egyptian) Studies Conference. Our 2017 theme is Say Their Names, Speak Their Truth: Examining Matters of African Life Past, Present, and Future. In March of 2017, we will gather in New Orleans, LA at Dillard University to celebrate our past 33 years of existence and to not only renew our moral obligation and responsibility to counter the political, cultural, and psychological oppression of African people, but to also continue to promote, preserve, and disseminate African cultural and intellectual enlightenment that sustains our humanity and is the foundation of our liberation.
It is fitting that this conference is taking place at Dillard University in New Orleans, LA, a city that houses the sacred space of the Congo Square, a vibrant incubator of African rituals, African celebrations, and also African rhythms of music and dance that helped to give birth to the Blues and Jazz. Our commitment to the cultural, political unity and development of Africans throughout the world must be grounded in a cultural, political, social, and economic vision of African renaissance for our liberation. In “examining matters of African life,” the names and truths of our African ancestors and all committed Africans living on “top of the earth” that continue the work of the ancestors must inform our collective vision.
