ABOUT THIS YEAR'S RECIPIENTS

CAROL S. LARSON

A gifted philanthropic strategist, Carol Larson has helped lead The David & Lucile Packard Foundation for nearly 30 years, serving as President and CEO since 2004. Under her transformative leadership, the Foundation has seen significant growth and expanded global engagement, averaging $300 million in annual grantmaking and $500 million in total global investments to organizations tackling some of today’s toughest challenges both in the Bay Area and around the world. The recipient of philanthropy’s highest award, the Distinguished Service Award, she is a highly respected national influencer in the fields of children’s health, education and welfare, climate change, and a champion of reproductive healthcare and rights for women and girls.

LUCY WICKS

A talented community builder, Lucy Wicks is a director of Government and Community Relations at Stanford University, acting as liaison between the University and government, businesses and neighbors working with local organizations to advocate for the community’s needs. Having served on multiple community initiatives, task forces and chamber boards, including Palo Alto Chamber of Commerce, she is a public face of Stanford to area communities, developing strategic local relationships to provide information about Stanford interests and resources, as well as to advise the University about the needs and interests of the community and cities.

CELESTE FORD

A female entrepreneur in the STEM sector and a brilliant leader and driving force in her field, Celeste Ford is a pioneer in the field of aerospace engineering. She was founder/CEO and is current Board Chair of Stellar Solutions, a global provider of systems engineering expertise, and a recognized leader in government and commercial aerospace programs. Based in Palo Alto, Stellar Solutions is the winner of the Malcolm Baldridge National Quality Award and is consistently on Fortune Magazine’s list of Top 40 “Great Places to Work.” During her distinguished career, Celeste has contributed to the genesis of global satellite communications, the NASA Space Shuttle program and other high-security projects. Celeste is the inaugural recipient of the Palo Alto Chamber’s “Silicon Valley Woman of Wisdom” award.
