About this event

The American Association of University Women Laguna Beach Branch LITERARY BRUNCH LAGUNA BEACH FESTIVAL of WOMEN AUTHORS celebrates women authors. This fundraiser will feature authors Janelle Brown, Jill G. Hall, and Lisa See. Books by the authors will be on sale both before and after the event and the speakers will be pleased to sign readers’ books.

More About the Event

Prior to the Surf & Sand Resort's delicious brunch and authors' presentations, participants enjoy a silent auction filled with unique items to bid on: art works, books, restaurant and beauty treatments gift certificates, museum and theater tickets, designer jewelry, hotel stays - the list goes on!

Doors open at 9 am for the silent auction, book sales, and to meet the authors. This event runs from 9 am to 1 pm.

Health Protocols

For the health and safety of the authors, our members, guests, and hotel staff, the event will follow all local and state health guidelines, and the following protocols will be maintained:

• Hotel staff will wear masks while serving

• Guests must wear masks unless seated

• No ticket sales at the door

PROOF OF VACCINATION WILL BE REQUIRED FROM ALL ATTENDEES PRIOR TO ATTENDING THE EVENT

About the Authors

Lisa See is the New York Times bestselling author of The Island of Sea Women, Snow Flower and the Secret Fan, The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane, and more. Her books have been published in 39 languages. Her book On Gold Mountain tells the story of her Chinese American family's settlement in Los Angeles. She has curated museum exhibits including at the Chinese American Museum in LA.

Jill G. Hall's dual-timeline novels The Black Velvet Coat, The Silver Shoes and The Green Lace Corset are about women searching for their place in the world connected by vintage finds. On her blog, Crealivity, she shares her poetry as well as musings about the art of practicing a creative lifestyle.

Janelle Brown is the New York Times bestselling author of Pretty Things, Watch Me Disappear, All We Ever Wanted Was Everything, and This Is Where We Live. She was a staff writer at Salon and Wired and launched one of the first Webzines for women--Maxi.

Helping Women and Girls

The Literary Brunch furthers our promise to help deserving women and girls, and through them, society at large – a promise of equity, leadership, scholarship, and excellence. Funds raised support tutoring elementary school children, scholarships for middle school girls to attend summer STEM camps, scholarships for graduating high school girls, scholarships for re-entry undergraduate women, and grants for women to attend the annual AAUW-sponsored leadership conference in Washington, DC.
