32 Hour Ammonia Responder Course. REGISTRATION CLOSING SOON.


When: October 9-12, 2018

Where: The Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds in Watsonville, CA, located in the beautiful Monterey Bay area.

What: The 32 Hour Ammonia Responder course is training experience that combines stimulating classroom time with hands-on training scenarios, including live ammonia drills, as well as the opportunity to connect with experts in the ammonia field. This course is offered annually in the Monterey Bay area.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Tuesday, October 9th: In-depth hazard analysis by ASTI instructors of four major ammonia releases that resulted in catastrophic damages. Class members will work in small groups with hands-on opportunities to learn and share their new insights.

Craig Haas, Senior Environmental Scientist from EPA will provide the latest changes in the RMP requirements.

  • Wednesday, October 10th: Dr. Kevin Foster, Chief of the Maricopa Burn Center will join with Jose Mata to discuss the challenges and lessons learned from Jose’s ammonia injuries. You will surely learn some new logic in decon, medical treatment, and injury recovery.

  • David Brown, Vulnerability Engineer for Argon Laboratories will be speaking on isolation and protective action zones in regards to the DOT/ERG guidebooks.

  • Thursday, October 11th: We will be doing live ammonia releases at Fort Ord on Thursday the 11th…a full day of hands-on exciting experience and very valuable information.

  • Friday, October 12th: Attorney Jim Dufour will be discussing the challenges of working with OSHA and EPA to secure a fair settlement agreement for serious injuries and death associated with an ammonia release. He will also explain how to work through a Dept. of Justice federal indictment.

Chemical Safety Board Member Manny Ehrlich will give a presentation on lessons learned from several catastrophic events.
