Event Details

The City of Jacksonville invites you to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. at the 31st Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast presented by Florida Blue.

The 31st Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast presented by Florida Blue will feature Mayor Lenny Curry alongside an inspirational keynote speaker. 

Different from previous years, the breakfast will precede the program. Breakfast will feature self-serve buffet style from 7 – 8 a.m. Guests are encouraged to network and explore community involvement opportunities during this time. The program will begin promptly at 8 a.m. In addition to the keynote speaker, the program will include spotlights of the Tomorrow’s Leaders award recipients.

Tickets for this event are $40 each and tables can be reserved by purchasing 10 tickets for $400. If you have questions about purchasing tickets please email us at events@coj.net or call (904) 630-3690.

Vernice "Flygirl" Armour
Keynote Speaker

Leveraging her “Breakthrough Mentality” and “Get Gutsy” mindset, Vernice “FlyGirl” Armour propelled herself from beat cop to combat pilot in a record-breaking three years and became America’s First African American Female Combat Pilot. As featured on CNN, MSNBC, The View, FOX News, Oprah Winfrey and others, FlyGirl’s fresh, edgy style, high, contagious energy and unique, gutsy essence jump off the stage, page and screen and moves people to action. Since 2007, she has inspired countless organizations and individuals to make gutsy moves and create breakthrough results.
 
A Tennessee native and graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, FlyGirl holds two honorary doctorates, was a Diversity Liaison Officer to the Pentagon for Headquarters Marine Corps and is a member of the COMCAST/NBCUniversal Joint Diversity Council. She has received numerous awards as a pioneering pilot, to include her commanding role in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM). She was the Marine Corps’ first African American Female pilot, first African American woman on the Nashville Police Department’s motorcycle squad, a Camp Pendleton Female Athlete of the Year and two-time titleholder in their Strongest Warrior Competition, and a running back for the women’s pro football team, the San Diego ‘Sunfire.’
FlyGirl’s first signature book, Zero to Breakthrough,TM was released in 2011.

What are my parking options for the event?

Complimentary parking is available at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center. Enter the parking lot from West Bay Street between Myrtle Avenue North and Johnson Street across from the I-10 on ramp.

How can my company reserve a table at the event?

Reserved tables are sold for $400 and can be purchased by purchasing 10 "Reserved Table" tickets for $40 each.

Are tickets available for purchase at the door?

Due to this event being a seated meal, tickets must be purchased in advance by Friday, January 5.

I or someone in my group has dietary restrictions, can you accommodate these needs?
