30th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Scholarship Breakfast

Dear Friends of the Greater Houston Frontiers,

We invite you to join us for the 30th Anniversary of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Breakfast which will be held Monday, January 15, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at the George R. Brown Convention Center, Hall B. Our theme this year centers on “Embracing our Diversity, Celebrating our Heritage.” Dr. King’s legacy reminds us of the strength of empowerment, the importance of celebrating our diversity, and remaining steadfast in our commitment to service.

Since the inception of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Breakfast in 1987, we have awarded $1,142,000 to 456 students in the Houston-Harris County area. We are not only excited about our past achievement and the positive impact we’ve had in each student’s life, but we aim to raise the bar on our efforts in 2018 and increase the number of scholarships we award.

Our 2018 sponsorship levels are: Chairman Level ($100,000), Presenting ($55,000), Summa Cum Laude Level ($15,000), Magna Cum Laude Level ($10,000), Honor Roll Level ($5,000), Dean’s List ($3,500), Scholar’s Level ($2,500), or Supporter ($1,000). Please chose the level that reflect your support for the students in the Houston-Harris County area.

Here are additional ways you can join our efforts and support:

1. New Sponsors – Join us in this effort to fulfill Dr. King’s legacy. It is no longer a “need to” but a “must do” to rally around the future of Houston and this country. Accept this challenge and bring along others to the cause of educational for our youth.

2. Returning Sponsors –The results of your past efforts and sponsorship has put the educational dreams of 456 students within reach, with students stretched out across this great land. It is time to reach more students that are in need. Please consider adding to your sponsorship by stepping up to the next level. Silver to Gold or Gold to Platinum.

3. Consider setting up a matching fund within your company, for employee contributions.

4. Commit to purchasing an extra table this year, so that more students that would like to meet you or your company can attend and participate in celebrating Dr. King’s legacy.

5. Commit to participating at the 25th Annual Celebrity Golf Tournament presented by UPS, March 5, 2018, and help expand our impact through scholarships. (See promotional flier attached)

Your financial commitment and partnership is key in helping us achieve our goal of increasing the number of scholarship awarded in 2018. These scholarships assist students in advancing their educational endeavors and gives them confidence in making their dreams become realities.
