Physical activity levels are very low in the UK: only 40% of men and 28% of women meet the minimum recommendations for physical activity in adults.

So what is deemed a reasonable level of physical activity?

Everybody should aim to be active daily. For adults the recommended amount is 150 minutes (2.5 hours) of moderate activity per week, in bouts of 10 minutes or more. However this is all too often ignored. The average person lacks the motivation and will disregard the health threat of inactivity and simply do nothing.

Challenge 30K

A person of average height has a stride length of about 2.1 to 2.5 feet. It takes the average person 2,000 walking/jogging steps make up a mile. The average walking pace for an adult is circa 3MPH.

The “30k” Challenge is about getting people active daily. We challenge you to walk 30,000 steps per week. By becoming more physically active you will control your weight, improve your stamina, become more confident and improve your mental health and mood.

Positive Wellness will host daily early morning walks from Titsey Park, Water Lane, Oxted, RH8 0SA and from Limpsfield Chart Golf Club carpark, Westerham Rd, Oxted RH8 0SH.
