The audiobook industry is exploding as everyone is listening to content on phones, in the car, at the gym, on the subway, everywhere! In this 3-week Intro to Narration class you’ll learn about this unique part of the voiceover world, and channel what you learn into possible work.

In this 3-week class, you will:

* Learn from an award-winning narrator/director/producer who has recorded over 250 books for major publishers and indie authors

* Explore the audiobook industry as a whole, as well as similarities and differences between narration and other types of voice over

* Learn about pacing, sustained storytelling, narration vs. dialogue, vocal technique, and how to create real characters

* Discover your own unique voice while working on different types of material

* Find out about how to put together a demo, and next steps for submitting to publishers and producers

About the Instructor

Piper Goodeve is an actress, director, and audiobook narrator who has recorded over 250 titles, including works by Neil deGrasse Tyson, R.L Stine, and Meg Cabot. She records for both indie authors and major publishers, including Harper Collins, Simon & Schuster, Tantor, and Audible Studios. A four-time Audie Award finalist, one-time winner, and an Earphones Award recipient, Piper is passionate about the craft of narration and has taught at The Voice Shop, CAST at Ripley-Grier, ACX University, and StoneStreet Studios at NYU/Tisch School of the Arts, among others. She produced and directed the audiobook #SOBLESSED, read by a full cast, including Brian Dennehy, and has directed titles for Hachette, and Audible Studios, including Sex, Race, and Robots read by Amandla Stenberg (Dear Evan Hansen.) Piper has performed on stage in regional theaters across the country, and in Canada, and earned a Drama League Award nomination for Distinguished Performance for creating the role of Anne in Anne of Green Gables (Off-Broadway, Original Cast Recording.) She holds an MFA from Brown University, and splits her time between Brooklyn and Vermont with her husband and their sassy cat Caroline.

Class meets on 3 consecutive Tuesdays from 6pm-8pm, starting October 11th and ending October 25th
