Event description

Description

In recent years, the audiobook industry has exploded as everyone is listening to content on phones, in the car, at the gym, on the subway. Almost every book that is published (whether by a big publisher or independently by the author) has an audio version, making this a great time to learn about a unique part of the voiceover world, and channel it into possible work. Narrating an entire book with detailed characters, pacing of scenes, and continuity of voice is no small task, but it is a skill that can be learned and practiced. In this 3-week class, you will:

  • Learn from a working, award-winning narrator/director/producer who has recorded over 100 books
  • Explore the audiobook industry, as well as similarities and differences between narration and other parts of the voiceover world
  • Learn about pacing, sustained storytelling, narration vs. dialogue, and how to create real characters
  • Discover your own unique voice while working on different types of material including genre, non-fiction, and fiction
  • Find out about the industry and how to get work in it, how to put together a demo, and how to submit yourself to publishers and producers
  • You will leave with confidence, insider knowledge, and new skills, as well as material handpicked for you for a demo should you choose to pursue this work
