Event description

Description

Do you want to incorporate yoga and breath work into your practice, but feel unsure of where to begin? Are you afraid of using these approaches incorrectly?

Attend this workshop to gain a deeper understanding of which breathing and yoga techniques help clients with anxiety, and how these differ from ones recommended for depression.

Helping our clients access their executive functioning can be difficult when they are in the midst of distress, experiencing scattered thoughts, or flooded with emotion. Knowing how to calm these experiences, ground your client, and access their complex higher functioning mind are critical during the treatment process.

This workshop teaches healing professionals practical techniques to start using in the therapy room right away. During this experiential training, you will practice a range to helpful postures, mudras (hand gestures), and breathing techniques that help both the client and therapist regulate emotion, calm anxiety, and reduce depression, both during the session and beyond.

**A link to the presentation will be provided for future reference. No prior Yoga experience required!**

Mental health professionals attending this workshop will earn 3 continuing education hours; Continuing education credits are also available for registered yoga instructors!

Objectives:

  1. Describe one yoga pose that can be practiced during therapy that can help clients regulate emotion.

  2. Identify one breathing technique appropriate to use with anxious clients.

  3. Identify one breathing technique appropriate to use with depressed clients.

  4. Learn and practice at least one mudra.
