Informative, evocative and engaging…. In this introductory session on labor and sex trafficking, participants will become familiarized with these criminal activities at home and abroad. The A-M-P Model will be used as a foundation to inform the audience as they learn to identify a trafficking case and take appropriate action.

Through video and discussion, a foundation will be provided to understand the complexities of trafficking and the challenges for mental health professionals who may, unknowingly, be encountering trafficking victims. Attention will be given to mental health considerations for survivors and practical resources will be provided so that every attendee, no matter their profession, can make a difference.

Objectives:

1: Identify at least two indicators of human trafficking

2: State one recruitment tactics of traffickers

3: Describe the complexities of leaving ‘the life’ due to traumatic bonding, shame, and guilt

4: Articulate an appropriate response to a suspected human trafficking case

About the Speaker:

Pam’s breadth of life experience as a therapist, executive coach, and years involved in service to others, personalize her presentations as well as her own story of healing from trauma. Pam is the author of the Curriculum on Human Trafficking and the co-creator of the Resiliency Training, used statewide in Missouri by Children’s Division. She serves on the Missouri Attorney General’s Human Trafficking Task Force and is part of the Coalition against Human Trafficking, lead by the U.S. Attorney’s office. She also serves on state committees related to secondary stress and trauma and is a member of the state Victim’s Response Team for human trafficking operations.

Pam provides consultations in the areas of resiliency, trauma, and human trafficking and is a frequent conference speaker throughout the mid-west. She is a Clinical Social Worker licensed in Kansas, Indiana, and Missouri, and is a member of the International Association of Trauma Professionals and the APA.

On the lighter side, Pam prefers water over land, is an avid pickle-ball player, loves to travel and enjoys playing almost any game, if it evokes laughter and some healthy competition!
