Event description

Description

For the second semester in a row, the Dayton Regional STEM School and the Human Race Theatre Company are partnering to offer students an after-school theatre program!

*Please note that this is a repeat of the workshop that was offered during 1st semester. Students who have already taken this workshop should not sign up for the second one. Also please note that this time the workshop is only open to students in grades 6-9.

What: This NEW workshop will feature an individualized and interactive approach to introductory acting techniques. Students in grades 6- 9 will be actively engaged in theatre games and improvisational exercises. There will be specific focus on all facets of theatrical movement including mime, character transformation, and physical comedy. The work of the actor will be conveyed to the students exposing them to the possibilities in a theatrical career and illuminating how this training will serve them well in all other aspects of their lives.

Instructor Bio: Scott Hunt is a native Daytonian, proud Resident Artist with The Human Race Theatre Company, and veteran of Broadway and National Tours. A strong believer in the value of "Paying it forward," he has dedicated the last five years of his career to becoming a Teaching Artist, sharing his knowledge and professional experience with the next generation of performers. He has performed on Broadway and in the National Touring productions of LES MISERABLES (Marius) and RENT (Mark Cohen), in addition to a robust regional theatre career including over 20 productions with HRTC. As an educator, he has instructed students at Wright State University and Drake University in addition to his work as a Teaching Artist for the Victoria Theatre Association. This Fall, he will be teaching Acting in the Musical Theatre at Miami University (Oxford, OH).

When: The workshop will take place every Thursday here at the school from 3:30-5:30PM starting on January 12 and lasting for ten weeks, ending on March 16.
