Event description

Description

In 1974, even though women made up 50% of the state and local government job holders, they made up less than 1.3% of all the city managers in the United States. Forty years later in 2014, the number of female managers had only increased a mere thirteen percent to 14.4%. One of the goals of Women Leading Government is to achieve gender balance in our profession. We hope to contribute to an increase in women in leadership positions by fulfilling our mission to "empower women to succeed in public service through mentoring and professional development."

The 2nd Annual Women Leading Government Conference will take place in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 12 & 13, 2017. This conference will provide you with an opportunity to network with professionals who are dedicated to local government. You will attend high quality, interactive sessions that are focused on INSPIRING, EMPOWERING and EQUIPPING you for the years ahead. You will also learn about issues faced by women in the profession at various stages in their careers and will have the great opportunity to encourage other professionals in their public service careers.

The conference will commence with an early registration and networking reception on Thursday, October 12 at 5:30PM at the American Bank Center. We will have a full day of programming on Friday, October 13th that begins with breakfast and registration at 8:00 AM and ends with a Female Executives Round-table at 3:30PM. Breakfast, lunch and refreshments are provided.

Registration is open to the first 100 registrants. Please register as soon as possible in order to secure a spot. Dress is business casual.

Our host hotel is Omni Corpus Christi. The Omni is conveniently located just 0.7 miles away from the conference site, the American Bank Center, and has every accommodation you will need during your stay.
