Event description

Description

Author D.S. Venetta and the City of Orlando are inviting area schools to the 2nd Annual School Garden Farmers Market. This farmer’s market event will take place during the Parramore Saturday Market in Orlando. Students and teachers are invited to host a Farm Stand where they can feature items grown and created by students. This is an opportunity to showcase your school garden to the community as well as share ideas and practices with fellow educators. It will also serve as an educational opportunity for students as they are encouraged to price, package, and merchandise their Farm Stand.

In addition, this event is designed to serve as a fundraising opportunity for your school garden. All sales from produce and merchandise sold are yours to keep and invest back in the garden program.

Some items to highlight:

•Farm Stand space is limited.

•There is no cost to the school for participation.

•For safety of all participants, there is no cooking permitted in the event space. All sold items must be either grown in the garden or made by students. No ready-to-eat food please.

•One adult must be present at the Farm Stand at all times. Student participation is encouraged, but not required.

•You are responsible for merchandising, pricing, and running your Farm Stand.

•We encourage you to bring pictures of your gardens to show off the amazing work of your student gardeners!

Set-up will begin at 9am. All Farm Stands must be ready to go by 10:00am.

In addition to our school gardens, there will be informational booths and activities from community partners. All either support youth health and wellness programs, or are active in community garden activities.
