Event description

Description

With nearly 49% of Oklahoma teachers in their first five years of teaching and over 2,000 emergency-certified teachers statewide, schools and districts are often left wondering about the best ways to accelerate novice teacher development and ensure retention in the field.

The Novice Teacher Development Conference brings together instructional coaches, principals, district leaders, mentor teachers, and university faculty together to share strategies for novice teacher effectiveness, talent retention, and effective mentoring and coaching. Breakout options include practice-based sessions on how to effectively mentor, coach, and develop new teachers using adult learning theory, essential practices for first-year teachers, and many more.

Hosted by the Teaching & Leading Initiative of Oklahoma and OU-Tulsa's PDLA program (Professional Development Leadership Academy), this year’s conference features a full day of sessions with lunch provided. Join us to collaborate, idea-share, and practice new skills with colleagues from across the state.

Registration starts at 8:30.
