Next Generation of Women presented by The Sherwin-Williams Company

Navigating your career and personal life in your 20s and 30s can be rough. We’ve carefully crafted a women’s forum tailored to the emerging female professional in Cleveland. Unlike your typical women in leadership event, we’ve created a half-day experience consisting of nothing but professional and personal advice to help guide the up-and-coming women in Cleveland, featuring some of the area’s most noteworthy female professionals across all industries.

*Please note trams will be available to transport guests from the parking lot to Stillwater Place.

Caring for Your Whole Self - When being pulled in a million directions, how do you take the time to care for yourself? Learn lessons to create greater balance by taking care of your body, mind and spirit while avoiding negative self-chatter, over committing and body shaming.

Charting a Course: A Financial Guide for Women - You've heard it time and time again...you need to be investing, thinking about retirement, etc. Learn how to create a financial plan that will work for you.

Being Authentic - Leading with Your Own Personality Style - ENTJ, ISTP, D, etc...what do these leadership style assessments mean? How can you learn at a young age to deal with all types in order to be your authentic self while managing a team with different personality types?

What Happens Outside of the Work Place - Cleveland is a philanthropic community where many are involved civically. Learn some tips for getting involved and how it can help to advance your career.

How to REALLY Network - Nowadays, everyone must be a good networker. This goes beyond attending an event and exchanging a business card. Learn how to effectively network and build lasting relationships.

Speakers:

Cathy Belk, President, JumpStart Inc.

Cathy works across all areas of the organization to help achieve JumpStart’s core mission. Alongside the CEO and other senior leaders, she helps to manage JumpStart’s relationships with collaborators, funders and other community partners. To JumpStart, she brought 20 years of experience in consumer and business marketing and business management from companies such as American Greetings, Coca-Cola Company, Procter and Gamble and Bank of America. Cathy was a Keller Scholar and received an MBA from Duke University; she earned a BA in Economics from Davidson College.

Margaret Bernstein, Director of Advocacy and Community Initiatives, WKYC Channel 3

Margaret is a Los Angeles native who earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California. She worked as a reporter, editor and columnist at The Plain Dealer from 1989 to 2013, prior to her arrival at WKYC. A devoted champion of literacy, Margaret earned a 2016 Emmy for her #WeReadHere campaign at WKYC, which encourages parents to read every day with their children. She serves on the national board for Little Free Library, was named National Big Sister of the Year in 2000 by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and is the writer of a series of storybooks designed to tighten the bond between fathers and their young children.

Jennifer Cohen, Senior Vice President, Leadership Development, Ratliff & Taylor

Jennifer brings 30 years of diverse Human Resources experience to her role as Practice Lead for Ratliff & Taylor’s Leadership Development group. She has worked in corporate, public and non-profit organizations with a focus on Leadership Development, Executive Coaching, Talent Acquisition, Training & Development, and Human Resources Management. Jennifer practices a holistic coaching methodology focused on aligning mind, body and emotion to bring out one’s best self and generate new outcomes. Jennifer is a sought-after presenter and is regularly featured at industry meetings.

Emily Drake, Advisor, Fairport Asset Management/Luma Wealth Advisors

Emily is a Certified Financial Planner with more than 30 years of industry experience. She is known not only for her in-depth financial expertise, but also for her empathy for the emotional aspects of financial decision making, especially in times of challenging transitions like the loss of a spouse or divorce. Her career began in New York City with two Wall Street firms. Emily holds a B.S. from Grand Valley State University and is a graduate of the National Trust Graduate School of Northwestern University. She holds a Certified Financial Planner TM (CFP®) certification and an Accredited Estate Planner® (AEP®) designation.

Shanelle Johnson, Deal Flow Analyst, JumpStart Inc.

Shanelle serves as the onboarding resource for applicants seeking services from JumpStart and its network of partners. Her role involves engaging with early-stage and small business clients, identifying their service needs, providing value-added feedback, maintaining continued engagement with clients and partners to track continued progress made and making referrals with a primary focus on Core City: Cleveland clients. Shanelle received her Master’s in Business Administration and her Bachelor’s degree in Finance from Cleveland State University.

Janice G. Murphy, RN, MSN, FACHE, Senior Vice-President of Mission and Ministry, Sisters of Charity Health System

Jan joined the Sisters of Charity Health System, after 40 years at the Cleveland Clinic in many leadership roles. In her current role as the Senior Vice-President of Mission and Ministry, she leads the integration of the philosophy and values of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine into the daily operations of the health system in all its operating units. Her areas of responsibility include, mission formation, leadership development, sponsorship, ethics, pastoral care, palliative care and diversity inclusion for all ministries.
