Event description
Spend the weekend learning songwriting skills from the pros! The Midwest CMA is proud to bring this event back for the 2nd Year!

About this Event

Thanks in part to, Jan Edwards and the Art and Gail Edwards Donor Advised Fund at the Minneapolis Foundation, we proudly present the 2nd Annual, Midwest CMA Songwriter Forum!

This years format is "All About the Song" as well as collaboration! Which with the amount of local talent we have among us, is sure to inspire creativity, and who knows, maybe even a hit song!

Similar to last year, we will kick off this one of a kind weekend, with a private concert on Friday night where Marty Dodson. Clay Mills, Jason Duke and Marti Dodson. (yes, two of the same names here but 2 different songwriters - haha!) These 4 very talented and diverse songwriters will be introducing themselves and performing their hit songs as well as sharing the stories behind them. Bios coming soon....

On Saturday we will start the morning off with a continental breakfast and some networking. We will then transition into our Nashville guests taking the stage to share some of their very best songwriting lessons/tips and to explain the rest of the days events, which will take place at the amazing, Winterland Studios. There, we will break off into songwriting groups of 2-4 songwriters, during which one of the Nashville pros will engage and help facilitate the songwriting process (about a 3 hour session)

Local recording studio owners/members will be formally participating in the co-writing sessions as well to network with our artists. Committed so far are, Winterland Studios and Pearl Recording.

Imagine being able to take part of a songwriting session from start to finish and walk away with a tracked and demo'd song?

The primary focus will be learning how established songwriters practice this format in Nashville, locally and many other areas around the world. That is a "sneak peak" of the blueprint to which we will all learn this year!

We will conclude the evening back at the Moonacy Music Room with a brief discussion about the days events and what you learned, liked, or even disliked about the process. Then there will be an opportunity for the songwriter(s) to perform and/or play their co-written song with an open mic concert to follow!

****** In addition, the Midwest CMA will give away 6 - four hour studio co-writing sessions for future use and development. (more info to come on this at the event)
