Day 1: Pre-Conference Evening Session, Wednesday, 9/26

Naturopathic Alternatives for Chronic Pain, Bill Walter, ND.

  • In this session, participants will identify ways to treat chronic pain with natural products and review evidence for effectiveness, discuss indications, contraindications, adverse effects of natural products, and review literature about acupuncture and spinal manipulation.

Day 2: Conference Sessions, Thursday, 9/27

Palliative Care, Harry Krulewitch, MD, MPH

  • This presentation will include a discussion on palliative care and the various aspects of applying person centered care. Additionally, the participants will learn how to manage a family palliative care conference using care planning components, goals of care, and communication and contemplative skills.

Effective Communication Strategies, Lori Stanton, MA

  • This session is designed to provide tips, strategies, and tools for those who are caring for people entering the early stages of dementia through the final stages.

Geriatric Syndromes and Self-Neglect, Nirmala Dhar, LCSW

  • This session will address several geriatric syndromes and how to establish and maintain the best possible care, treatments and care techniques.

Day 3: Mental Health First Aid Training, Friday, 9/28

  • This training is for those who come into regular contact with older adults and do not have formal training or experience with mental health first aid.
