Description
The Halo Awards is a first-of-its-kind Grammy-style event celebrating scientists for their tireless pursuit of cures and treatments that help people live better lives. This is not your typical award show.
At the Halo Awards, the scientist is celebrity.
PROGRAM SCHEDULE
6 - 7pm: Cocktail Reception
Science-inspired "edible"cocktails from James Beard-nominated and former NEXT and Alinea chef Jenner Tomaska
7 - 10pm: Main Event
Celebrating three of Chicago's "Heroes of Medicine" and 40 under 40 scientists leading the next generation of translational research
Hosted by Lisa Allen of "The Mix" with seated dinner and featured performances by:
- Cancer survivor Jenny Conlee of The Decemberists with cancer researchers Tom Gajewski of University of Chicago and Dirk Spitzker of Washington University in St. Louis.
- Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra; Original arrangement by Northwestern Music Professor and composer David Carter
- The Gospel Touch Choir
- Intonation - "Every kid is a rock star"
