The Newtown Lions Club and the Sigma Chi Alumni association has partnered for the 2nd annual Fore Sandy Hook golf tournament to raise funds for the Newtown Lions Club Foundation Sandy Hook Elementary Fund in participation with the Newtown Rotary Club, and The Newtown Memorial Fund will:
· Pay the counseling cost not covered by insurance (copays, etc.)
· Pay for counseling costs for individuals who do not have insurance.
· Help families find a licensed mental health professional in their area.
There were more than 600 children and staff in Sandy Hook Elementary School at the time of the shooting and among those were 12 surviving children in classrooms that witnessed these horrific events. Additionally, there were hundreds of first responders, including police, fire, and counselors who were deeply affected the morning of the shooting. These are our friends and neighbors who are in the most need of the services the Newtown Lions Club Foundation provides.
The Newtown Lions Club Foundation has dispersed funds for counseling in excess of 250 individuals in the in the past year since the tragedy. Our current outlay is over $30,000 a month and a total of $245,000 in 2013. At this rate, we estimate that our annual needs will be over $250,000 a year. It is predicted that we may need to provide this assistance for a period of up to ten years. As a result, we tripled our monetary goal from $1,000,000 to $3,000,000 over ten years.
Please help us help those who are in the greatest need by sponsoring or playing in the Fore Sandy Hook golf classic. The Newtown Lions Club Foundation is a tax deductible 501(c)3.
