WHAT IS ENDOMETRIOSIS?
Endometriosis [en-doh-mee-tree-oh-sis] is a painful, chronic disease that affects at least 175 million women and girls worldwide; some as young as 13 years old!  Endo, as it is commonly called, occurs when tissue similar to the lining of the uterus is found outside the uterus in other areas of the body. These tissues develop into what are called 'nodules', 'tumors', 'lesions', 'implants', or 'growths'. These growths can cause pain, infertility and a host of other problems. For many women, the pain of endometriosis is so severe and debilitating that it impacts their lives in MANY significant ways.

Though commonly found in the ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus and supporting ligaments, it can also be found in the bladder, bowels, intestines, colon, appendix, vagina and rectum. The pain often correlates to the menstrual cycle, but a woman with endometriosis may also experience pain that doesn't correlate to her cycle - this is what makes this disease/condition so unpredictable and frustrating.

THERE IS CURRENTLY NO CURE FOR ENDOMETRIOSIS
