Event description

Description

Mental Health America of Georgia is hosting our fifth annual silent auction and reception spotlighting our work in early intervention and crisis prevention through our maternal, youth, and adult programs. In 2018 we will be returning with our Casino Night: Fight the Stigma event, featuring authentic casino games, a luxury auction,a DJ, dancefloor and a buffet-style dinner with an open bar.

We are honored to have Shanti Das, Founder of the Hip Hop Professional Foundation and Silence the Shame. SHANTI DAS is an accomplished Music Industry Executive, Marketing Executive, Consultant, Mentor, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, and Author. She is also the Founder/CEO of Press Reset Entertainment, an Atlanta-based firm launched in 2009 that serves as an entertainment concierge service providing independent marketing & strategy for music acts, artist development, talent booking for private & corporate events, brand influencer marketing and special event assistance. Silence The Shame is an initiative started under her Hip-Hop Professional Foundation. Shanti has suffered from depression over the years and has also experienced love ones affected with mental health disorders. With Silence the Shame, she hopes to peel back the layers of shame and stigma as it relates to mental health.

A portion of the funds raised will go directly towards our work in Mental Health First Aid for public safety personnel and first responders. The course teaches the unique risk factors and warning signs of mental health problems, builds understanding of the importance of early intervention, and, most importantly, teaches first responders how to help someone in crisis or experiencing a mental health challenge. Mental Health First Aid for Public Safety provides officers with more response options to help them deescalate incidents and better understand mental illnesses so they can respond to mental health related calls appropriately with compromising safety. Approximately 10,000 public safety professionals have taken the course, including at police academies in Philadelphia, DC, Seattle, and numerous smaller and rural departments. We are working to train first responders throughout the state of Georgia.
