Keynote Speaker: Tim Cipriano
Chef Timothy Cipriano is Director of Food Services for the Guilford Public Schools. One of Chef Tim's most valuable achievements to date has been introducing more local produce into the school meals program and working to educate Connecticut students about fresh, healthy and great tasting food choices; this effort led for him to receive the moniker, "Local Food Dude".
Chef Tim is Connecticut’s favorite No Kid Hungry Chef and is Chair of Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation New Haven, an event to raise money to end childhood hunger held every spring in New Haven. Chef was named One of the 50 most influential people in Greater New Haven by New Haven Living Magazine in December 2012; was one of the featured chefs on Food Network’s show CHOPPED in November 2012 and in 2011, Chef Tim was named a “Champion of Change” by the White House for his part in creating the “Chefs Move to Schools” program. Chefs Move to Schools asks chefs from around the country to adopt schools in their communities to work with teachers, parents and school nutrition professionals to help educate kids about food and nutrition.
Co-Keynote Speaker: Chef Cheryl Barbara
Chef Cheryl Barbara has been a “lunch lady” for the New Haven Public School Systems for over a decade. In late 2011, she became a Chef known throughout the nation as the winner of the Class Acts competition on CHOPPED. While show focused on the quality of food, they also touched on Barbara’s backpack program in which she fills backpacks with food to make sure kids don’t go hungry on weekends.More on Chef Barbara
Master of Ceremonies: Jocelyn Maminta, Host of WTNH CT Style Ch 8 News
Over her distinguished 20-year broadcast career, Emmy Award-nominated medical reporter and co-host of News 8’s “Connecticut Style” Jocelyn Maminta has anchored and reported for television stations in North Carolina, New York, Milwaukee, Texas, and Connecticut.
A political science graduate of the University of Missouri, Maminta works tirelessly for many nonprofits across the state. She serves on the boards of Friends of Yale-New Haven Children’s Hospital and the Arts Council of Greater New Haven, and is a member of the Junior League of Greater New Haven.
She is co-founder of Caroline’s Room, a safe haven for families coping with the challenges and uncertainties surrounding the birth of a premature baby. There are Caroline’s Rooms in Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Missouri, Texas, and Virginia.

Our mission at MCK is to instill healthy eating habits, build self-esteem, foster a sense of belonging, establish basic life skills in our children so that they may grow into healthy adults. To teach kids about food, and food products.
We hope to encourage kids to take a keen interest in what they eat, where the food comes from, and especially how to prepare it.
