Event description

Description

Join us as we welcome renowned author and speaker Dr. Joy Degruy in a in depth discussion of race, history, and culture. Dr. Degruy's work helps individuls and groups to better understand the functional and dysfunctional attitudes and behaviors that have been transmitted to us through multiple generations; behaviors that we are now transmitting to others in our environments of home, school, and work and within the larger society. Through this lense we will uncover the truths of how White Supremacist systems have affected and continue to plauge the Black birthing experience and outcomes. Further discussions in smaller groups will take place to share solutions to help redevelop systems for us by us that strengthen and cultivate healthier birthing outcomes for Black families and communities.
