The 29th Annual African, African American, and Caribbean Studies Summer Institute is a yearly event created and provided by the Palm Beach County School District Office of African, African American, Latino, Holocaust, and Gender Studies. Our theme is, Get it Right: The Journey of Self-Reflection and Transformation for Educators and Leaders. The aim of the institute is to guide educators, leaders, and community stakeholders through the process of examining their beliefs and practices around creating environments conducive to all learning types. Additionally, we will be providing guidelines to schools on how to meet the requirements of FS 1003.42 (h).

Palm Beach County Black Historical Experience Bus Tour: Hosted by the Palm Beach County African Diaspora Historical and Cultural Society and the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum

Palm Beach County African Diaspora Historical and Cultural Society

8:00 am - 1:00 pm - This segment of the tour provides an overview of the early African presence, movement and history in Florida from the1500s to the present. It specifically highlights the local history of neighborhood heritage sites and the contributions of early pioneers to the educational, social and economic development of these communities, the City of West Palm Beach and Palm Beach County.

The Spady Cultural Heritage Museum

1:00 pm - 4:30 pm - Attendees will tour the Spady Cultural Heritage Museum where they will hear South Palm Beach County history and participate in a cultural performance.
