Event description

Description

All shows begin at 8pm aboard the Balclutha

Experience the driving rhythms of shipboard work songs, and the beauty of ballads and instrumentals, aboard the 1886 Glasgow-built sailing ship Balclutha.

Saturday, September 17th-Diana Gameros and Maria Jose Montijo

Diana Gameros and Maria Jose Montijo on latin harp and vocals singing of the sea, ships, love and life, drawn from folkloric and contemporary music traditions of Latin America and the Caribbean. Experience these Spanish language songs in a unique waterfront setting aboard the historic 1886 square-rigged sailing ship Balclutha.

Saturday, October 15, 8pm.  Hank Cramer

Singer and guitarist Hank Cramer brings a wealth of seagoing experience and a commanding voice to his performances. He's known for his booming bass voice, smooth picking on a vintage flat-top guitar, and a wry sense of humor. Hank's repertoire is a mix of original, traditional, and contemporary folk songs. They tell the stories of cowboys, sailors, soldiers, miners, adventurers, and just plain drifters.

Saturday, November 12, 8pm.  John Roberts and Debra Cowan

John Roberts and Debra Cowan present their versions of mostly traditional songs in the way that they might have been sung a 100 years ago. Audience participation is strongly encouraged on choruses and refrains. We apologize in advance for the occasional use of concertinas and a banjo
