Active Collaborative Training (A.C.T.) Series: Caring for Newborns with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome

Join Child Care Aware of New Hampshire for our 2nd year of Active Collaborative Training (A.C.T.) Series with regional and statewide experts. Each year, CCAoNH will be providing two A.C.T. Trainings in New Hampshire on topics pertaining to health and safety. The A.C.T. Training Series will be offered each year in December and February.

 

Caring for Newborns with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome

This engaging presentation is a brief overview of how to recognize and decrease stigma in care. At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to apply knowledge of neonatal abstinence syndrome and the neurodevelopmental effects of in-utero opiate exposure in order to enhance strategies of care using a de-stigmatizing approach with families. 

We will follow this presentation with a Question and Answer panel. This part of the day will provide participants with the opportunity to debrief and ask questions of the panel through guided questions. The panel will consist of:

  • Maushumi Assad, MD, MPH-Winchester Hospital, BIDMC & Children's Hospital Boston, Attending Neonatologist, Division of Newborn Medicine
  • Michele A. Guertin, Supervisor, Child Care Licensing Unit
  • Maryann Evers, LICSW, Director of Family Support Programs at Waypoint, NH

  • 8:30 to 9:00 am Registration
  • 9:00 to 10:15 am Caring for Newborns with Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome
  • 10:30 to 11:30 am Panel Discussion

Cost: Thanks to an anonymous donor through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation the costs for this training event have been graciously provided and this event is being offered at no cost to early childhood professionals!

 

Child Care Aware of NH will be adding trainings taken through Eventbrite into the NH Professional Registry. If you register for this training, Child Care Aware of NH Staff will be adding this training to your registry record and you will have it available on your training transcript once you complete the training. Training registrations are NOW transferable for paid events with a minimum of five (5) business days’ notice. Transfers are only made via phone
