27th Annual Tricky Tray Hosted by The Franklin Woman's Club
Event Information
About this event
5/31/21 Update: Ticket sales will end on Thursday, June 3. PLEASE specify the name of each attendee when you purchase admission tickets/ticket bundles. Please also read information in 5/15/21 update below.
5/15/21 Update:
The Franklin Woman’s Club’s 27th Tricky Tray (originally scheduled for 4/3/20) will be held on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at the Somerville Elks, RAIN or SHINE.
The Elks have a large parking lot, but not as large as the one at Franklin High School, so PLEASE CARPOOL. If you need a place to meet up with friends and leave some cars, Adamsville Elementary School at 400 Union Ave. is very close by.
We will have close to 400 fabulous prizes set up in 2 adjacent rooms inside the Elks building. Prizes include a TV, $300 Amazon gift card, Disney passes, Instant Pot, Keurig, Ring Doorbell, and hundreds of themed baskets. When you arrive for your time slot, we will check you in and give you any ticket bundles that you pre-purchased. You may purchase additional sheets and bundles, as well as 50/50 tickets, with CASH ONLY on June 6th.
Earlier this week, an email was sent to everyone that purchased a ticket for our 4/3/20 Tricky Tray (and did not have that ticket refunded) with a link to a sign up form for a time slot to walk through the Elks building to put their tickets in containers for prizes. If you did not receive an email, check with your group leader, or reach out to Karen at fwctrickytray@yahoo.com. If you are making a time slot reservation for other members of your group, please list their names in the comments field or enter their reservations individually.
On 5/16/21, a limited number of admission tickets will go on sale on this site. You may also purchase ticket bundles at this time. You will receive an email from a Franklin Woman's Club volunteer within 24 hours of purchasing your admission ticket with a link to the site for reserving your admission time slot.
The Time Slots (maximum 60 people each) are:
12:00 PM - 12:45 PM
12:30 PM - 1:15 PM
1:00 PM - 1:45 PM
1:30 PM - 2:15 PM
2:00 PM - 2:45 PM
When your time slot ends, you should return to the parking lot for the calling of winning numbers starting at 3:00 PM. We will be broadcasting the calling of the winning numbers over an FM radio station so you can listen from your car. Feel free to bring a folding chair and portable AM/FM radio to watch and listen from a spot in front of your car. (We are looking into a backup method for watching/listening, such as FB Live.) When you win, you will need to walk up to the front to pick up your prize.
The prize list will be posted on our website https://www.franklinwomansclub.com/tricky-tray approximately one week before the event so you can plan your strategy. If you have an early time slot, you might want to go shop or eat in one of the many Somerville shops, and return prior to 3:00.
Due to COVID, we will not be able to serve any refreshments. Anyone that brings snacks to eat in their cars must take all trash with them. We will not make any announcements for food deliveries. Out of respect for all attendees and volunteers, we ask that you wear a mask and adhere to social distancing guidelines both outside and indoors.
3/13/21 Update:
We are happy to inform you that, pending permit approval, Franklin Woman’s Club will be conducting its 27th Annual Tricky Tray (originally scheduled for 4/3/20) on Sunday, June 6, at the Somerville Elks, 375 Union Ave (Rt.28), Bridgewater, NJ 08807.
Due to Covid-19, this event will not be a traditional Tricky Tray; it will be a hybrid indoor/outdoor Tricky Tray. We are aware of multiple charitable organizations that have conducted similar events during the last year with positive reviews from attendees.
While many details are still being worked out, we can tell you that the Elks has a spacious interior which will enable us to spread out our prize baskets, and a large but compact parking lot in which participants will be able to sit in cars (or on lawn chairs) to listen to the calling of winning numbers. Covid protocols (wearing of masks, social distancing) will be followed. Since we expect to need to limit the number of people indoors at any given time, participants will need to sign up for time slots during the afternoon to walk through and put their tickets in containers for prizes (details to follow).
We hope you will look forward to attending. We will have 300+ prizes!!!
Should you no longer be able to attend, you may request a refund, or cancel your reservation while donating your $20 registration fee to the club for our scholarship fund, by emailing fwctrickytray@yahoo.com. Please include your name, address and details about what should be refunded.
Some people have asked if we will open up ticket sales again. We will re-evaluate this in late April/early May based on Covid-19 social distancing guidelines.
If you ordered tickets for friends or relatives, please share this information with them.
9/10/20 Update:
When we last updated this listing, our hope was to hold our Tricky Tray at Franklin High School, in October. Since then, Franklin Township Public Schools has announced that they will not be allowing use of any of their buildings by outside groups. We tried to find another venue for an indoor/outdoor event, but our efforts were further complicated when, in August, the limit on the number of people allowed at an indoor gathering in NJ was reduced from 50 to 25.
As a result, we no longer expect to be able to hold this Tricky Tray in 2020. We are now aiming for spring of 2021.
Since we do not yet have a venue, we do not yet have a firm date. However, the Eventbrite system requires us to put in a new date when we postpone. For that purpose we are using the date of March 19, 2021.
When we have a new date and location, we will email ticket holders with all the details. At that time, should you no longer wish or be able to attend, you will be given the opportunity to request a refund, or to cancel your reservation while donating your $20 registration fee to the club for our scholarship fund.
Should you prefer to receive a refund now, please email fwctrickytray@yahoo.com. Please include your name, address and details about what should be refunded. FYI, it is likely that when we are finally able to hold this Tricky Tray that we will NOT open sales up again, so that we have a less crowded event.
Please be advised that Eventbrite refunds always go back to the original card used for purchase. If you no longer have that card, be sure to let us know so that we can discuss options with you prior to processing the refund.
If you ordered tickets for friends or relatives, please share this information with them.
New Online Silent Auction
Some of the gift certificates that businesses donated as prizes for our 2020 Tricky Tray will expire prior to March of 2021. As a result, Franklin Woman’s Club is investigating options for an online silent auction of select Tricky Tray prizes (gift certificates, Christmas items, etc.) in October/November. The Tricky Tray committee will replenish prizes as necessary, so there will still be an abundance of prizes at our 2021 Tricky Tray.
Old York Cellars Wine Label Fundraiser
Need an excuse to buy some wine? Franklin Woman’s Club has partnered with Old York Cellars to bring you delicious wine in bottles with fun messages, perfect for enjoying at home or giving as a gift! There are three wine options, a white blend, a red blend, and a blush, each with a unique label, with sayings such as “Smile, There’s Wine” and “2020 Survival Beverage” (complete with images of masks and rolls of TP!) Go to https://www.oldyorkcellars.com/Franklin-Woman-s-Club to place your order for pickup at their winery in Ringoes (near Flemington) or their tasting room in Quakerbridge Mall, or for delivery (fee applies). For each bottle purchased, Old York Cellars will provide a donation to Franklin Woman’s Club to help offset the cost of storing the Tricky Tray baskets!
6/15/20 Update:
We are now hoping to have this Tricky Tray on Friday, October 2, dependent on school availability and the relaxing of restrictions on indoor gatherings of large groups. When a new date is finalized (10/2 or other), email notification will be sent to all that purchased tickets. Thank you for your patience.
3/31/20 Update:
This new date of 6/19/20 is very tentative, pending both removal of social distancing restrictions and school availability. We needed to update this site before the original event date (4/3), because otherwise the event would be treated as a completed/past event. When a new date is finalized (6/19 or other), email notification will be sent to all ticket holders. In the meantime, stay home and stay well!
3/16/20 Update:
In accordance with the Franklin Township State of Emergency and recommendations from The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to try to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19), our Tricky Tray scheduled for April 3rd at Franklin High School is being postponed. A new date is not yet available. We are investigating our options and will provide you with updates when available. If you ordered tickets for friends or relatives, please share this information with them. Thank you.
Thank you for your support! As of Monday afternoon, March 9th, we are no longer accepting ticket orders via Eventbrite. We hope to be able to honor mail orders postmarked through today. For those that have already purchased admission tickets, remember that extra sheets, ticket bundles, and 50/50 tickets will be sold at the Tricky Tray for CASH only.
