Description

Presented by the Departments of Family Medicine and Obstetrics & Gynecology at The University of Michigan Medical School, the 26th Annual Primary Health Care of Women Conference & Integrative Health in Primary Care is a three-day, clinically-oriented course designed to explore the most recent topics in the diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions in women and in integrative medicine. These two popular courses have been combined for the first time ever. You may attend the full course or just one or two days. Early-bird discounts are in effect until November 21st.

Agenda: You will find the agenda at http://www.UMFamilyMedCME.com. This course will help attendees meet the Michigan state-mandated CME requirements for pain and symptom management.

Women's health care sessions will be presented on Thursday, December 6th and integrative medicine sessions on Saturday, December 8th. Friday, December 7th will consist of a combination of both topics. Topics include dementia, hypertension, weight management, bipolar disease, breast cancer and pain management.

We have designed four interactive workshops for Friday afternoon. You will learn about culinary medicine, managing chronic tension headaches with massage therapy, mindfulness and Pilates for post-natal, low back and active aging issues.

Course Objectives: By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  2. Identify evidence-based health care practices in physical health including, but not limited to, gynecology and oncology.

  3. Identify the unique issues in caring for minority groups, such as African American females.

  4. Implement an integrative approach to the diagnosis and treatment of common medical conditions, including but not limited to, chronic tension headaches, autonomic dysfunction and POTS, musculoskeletal pain and mast cell activation syndrome.

  5. Expand their underlying knowledge of evidence-based integrative therapies such as mindfulness, massage therapy, Pilates and culinary medicine.
