26th Annual Arnold Markle Symposium October 23-24, 2017 on

Investigation of Fire and Arson Related Deaths


The 26th Annual Arnold Markle Symposium will be held in Dodds Hall, Bucknall Theater, at the University of New Haven on October 23, 24, 2017. The program will run from 8:30am – 4:00pm each day and the annual opening ceremony will be Monday October 23rd. This year’s speakers will include noted international and national fire and arson investigators, who have researched and published on the topic, and law enforcement, fire, and industry experts in fire and arson investigation. Dr. Henry C. Lee, founder of the Institute, will address the fire and crime scene investigation as well as evidence and reconstruction. Dr. John D. DeHaan, a noted author and expert in fire investigation, will specifically address fire and arson death investigation.

The speakers at the 26th Annual Arnold Markle Symposium this year will include Mary Galvin, State’s Attorney (Ret.), Assistant State’s Attorney Howard Stein, Joseph Toscano, Consultant and State’s Attorney’s Inspector (Ret.), Det. Paul Makuk, Connecticut State Police, SA Chris Porreca, BATF&E, Robert Duval, NFPA, Daniel Madrzykowski, U.L., Mark Grasso, Traveler’s Insurance, Connecticut State Police (Ret.), Gary Thorstenson, International Association of Arson Investigators, and Jeffrey Morrissette, State of Connecticut Fire Administrator.
