Every year the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum pays tribute to the hand crafted wooden boats of the Gulf Coast. Hundreds of boats will line the banks of the Tchefuncte River as 30,000 wooden boat enthusiasts come to celebrate the wonders of wood and water.
Fun for all ages, the WBF offers plenty of free parking, contests, parades, music, good food, crafts, artists and easy access make the Wooden Boat Festival one of the most popular events in the South. We welcome you to the 2014 Wooden Boat Festival, created to highlight what makes Louisiana’s maritime history great! Start your discovery of the history and culture of wooden boats with us!
The festival kicks-off with Maritime Mania on Friday, October 10, 2014 at 7:30pm at the LPBMM. Maritime Mania has become an attraction in its own right in recent years. As many as a thousand food and music lovers attend to mingle with the visiting wooden boat captains, preview new Museum exhibits and enjoy live music, an open bar, and food from various local restaurants.
The main festival is on the streets of Madisonville, LA and the Tchefuncte River on Saturday, October 11 & Sunday October 12, 10:00am - 6:00pm.

“Bringing Louisiana’s Maritime History to Life,” is the driving mission of the Lake Pontchartrain Basin Maritime Museum. Located on the banks of the scenic Tchefuncte River in Madisonville, the LPB Maritime Museum takes you on a historic journey through maritime Louisiana.
The museum brings Louisiana’s maritime history to life through unique interpretive programs, exhibits, and publications. These programs include the time honored craft of boat building, hands-on field trips, constructing underwater robots, restoration of the Tchefuncte River Lighthouse, and other exciting educational opportunities for people of all ages.
