25th Marine Regiment Ball
The 25th Marine Regiment will be celebrating our Marine Corps Ball on 12 November 2016. We will also be celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Marine Corps Reserves.
Guest of Honor will be Colonel Todd S. Desgrosseilliers, USMC
During his time in the operating forces he served in North Carolina, California, Japan, Norway, Panama, Colombia, South China Sea in support of the Korean Crisis; the Arabian Gulf--participating in Operation SOUTHERN WATCH; 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit (Special Operations Capable)--participating in Operation DYNAMIC RESPONSE, and Operation DYNAMIC STRIKE in Croatia, Slovenia, and Bosnia-Herzegovina, Operation DELIBERATE GUARD and Operation JOINT GUARD in Albania and Montenegro, and Operation DETERMINED FALCON in Kosovo, Kiev, Ukraine to provide manpower assistance and to training to the Ukrainian Army, Bogotá, Columbia to provide manpower assistance and training to the Columbian Marine Corps and Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM II, participated in Operation PHANTOM FURY (AL FAJR) in Al Fallujah, Iraq.
This true American Hero also served as Inspector-Instructor, Company E, 2nd Battalion, 24th Marines, in Des Moines, Iowa Recruiting Station Des Moines, Des Moines, Iowa, where he served as the Commanding Officer, Recruiting Station Des Moines. During this tour the Commandant of the Marine Corps recognized Recruiting Station Des Moines as Superior Achiever for fiscal year 2001 for Major Desgrosseilliers’ “…superior leadership and guidance…
In June 2006, the State of Maine House of Representatives recognized him with an “official expression of sentiment” for his “heroic actions” during the Battle of Fallujah. He completed the Commandant of the Marine Corps’ National Security Fellowship at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government from July 2007 to May 2008. In 2007 he was selected as the “Maine Hero” for the Department of Defense’s “50 Heroes for 50 States”.
In May 2009, the Business Executives for National Security recognized Lieutenant Colonel Desgrosseilliers “For Exceptional Service to Your Country” at their annual convention in Washington, D.C.
He’s currently the Secretary for Hire Our Heroes’ Board of Directors. Additionally, he also serves as the Chairman for the Strategy and Integration Committee and as a member on the Finance Committee for this organization.
Colonel Desgrosseilliers also authored and co-authored several articles published in the Marine Corps Gazette and Proceedings magazines.
He served as the Marine Corps’ representative on the Combined Services Rugby Committee. He also completed 12 Marine Corps Marathons and the John F. Kennedy 50 Mile Hike-Run. In 1985 he completed a solo, transcontinental bicycle trip from Bar Harbor, Maine to Seattle, Washington.
His personal awards include the Silver Star Medal, the Bronze Star Medal (With Combat Distinguishing Device and Gold Star in Lieu of Second Award), Purple Heart Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of Second Award), Meritorious Service Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of Second Award), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (Gold Star in Lieu of 3rd Award), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and the Combat Action Ribbon.
