We warmly invite you to join us at this exquisite coastal retreat, minutes from Monterey, for 2 1/2 stimulating days. Along with an intensive learning experience, there will be time to walk on the beach, socialize and network with colleagues. This unique learning opportunity allows clinicians to participate in immersive institutes led by master group therapists. The program includes a number of offerings and process groups suitable for all levels of experience. We look forward to seeing you there!

This registration is for Institute registration only. It is also necessary to complete a Lodging Reservation and fee directly to Asilomar using the provided link. Joining NCGPS prior to registration qualifies you for the NCGPS member rate. Early Bird Rates for the Institute are available for those registering by April 15, 2019 and require a reservation for lodging at the Asilomar Conference Center by April 15, 2019 as well. This lodging reservation must be completed using the link provided. If there are any concerns with Institute Registration, please contact the Insitute Co-Directors for assistance.

NCGPS strives to make our events accessible to all of the intended audience. If you require any special accommodations to fully participate, please email either of the conference Co-Directors.

Continuing Education and Accreditation

This program is intended for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, nurses, and other mental health professionals who are either engaged in or training to do group psychotherapy. Upon completion of this program, participants can expect increased knowledge and skill in group psychotherapy, improved ability to integrate theory and practice, increased ability to formulate therapeutic strategies, and acquisition of new techniques for promoting change.

12 CE's available for attendance, payable at time of registration. NCGPS is approved by the California Psychological Association to provide continuing education for Psychologists, which also satisfies the requirements of the BBS as a provider of continuing education for LCSW’s, LMFT’s, LPCC’s, and LEP’s. NCGPS satisfies the CE requirements for the Nursing Board. NCGPS maintains responsibility for this program and its content. Full attendance is required to receive credit. There is a $25 fee for those desiring CE’s which must be paid at the time of registration. CE certificate will be provided at the completion of the Institute.

Scholarships for Licensed Professionals and Students/Trainees/Residents/Interns are available to cover Institute fees.

By completing the registration process, I agree to the following:

• I meet the experience requirements of the groups for which I am applying.

• I am aware that my group will be observed during the Institute by a member of the Institute committee.

• I agree to be present for the full Institute, starting with the general session, and to complete the Institute evaluation forms at the end of my group.

• I understand that if I do not attend the entire 12 hours of the Institute, I may be ineligible to receive any CE credit.

[For the health of those with allergies, NCGPS is a scent-free organization. Please refrain from using any scents (perfume, cologne, etc.) during the course of the Institute.]


What's the refund policy?

Conference Registration refunds (less a $50 administration fee) will be issued for requests received by email to Ildiko Ran, LMFT, CGP IldikoGaborSF@gmail.com or Latoyia Griffin, LCSW, CGP GriffinFamilyTherapy@gmail.com on or before April 15. You may also utilize the Eventbrite refund request function. This is for registration only, not Lodging. Please contact Asilomar regarding any Lodging concerns.

What is the format of the Institute?

The Training Institute is a two-and-a-half day residential program in which each participant becomes a member of a group for the entire period. The Institute provides an opportunity for 12 hours of intensive experiential learning as well as theoretical discussions relevant to the experience. The group sessions cannot be considered to be psychotherapy The leader’s role is that of teacher, rather than therapist, it is anticipated that there will be considerable interpersonal and intrapersonal learning. Leaders have been selected for their demonstrated expertise in clinical group psychotherapy, experiential training, and the special focus of each of their groups. Leaders will meet individually and as a staff with members of the Institute Committee to review the progress of their groups. All groups will be observed by a member of the Institute Committee, and their observations will be discussed with the group leaders. Several social activities are anticipated during the conference. Coffee, tea and snacks will be available on breaks. Social gatherings are planned during our time and there are a range of activities available on the conference grounds for your free time.

We urge you to register as soon as possible, since we anticipate that several of the groups will have more applicants than can be accepted. You will have the opportunity to list 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice options; this information will be helpful, as a reference, if the initial group you desire to register for is full, and if any openings become available. To receive continuing education credit for the weekend, participants must remain in their groups for the entire weekend.

What can I look forward to at Asilomar Conference Center?

Asilomar is a conference center situated in a beautiful state park on Monterey Bay in Pacific Grove. Activities on the grounds include walking or hiking along the beach or in the woods, beach volleyball, biking, bird watching, socializing around a warm fire pit. A heated outdoor swimming pool is available. For indoor socializing, the Social Hall is open 24/7 and has a fireplace, pool tables, and games; there is also a cafe onsite with extended hours. Main meals are eaten together in the Dining Hall where the menu highlights fresh, seasonal, local produce procured from their network of regional, organic farmers. To preserve the refuge atmosphere at Asilomar, Guest rooms are free from the distraction of televisions and individual telephones. While at Asilomar, messages can be taken by the front desk (831) 372-8016. There is a business center located next to the front desk. All Guest rooms and meeting rooms are non-smoking.
